Protect Your Home From Leaks and Safeguard Your Home Insurance Coverage
Water damage is a common and expensive problem for Bay Area homeowners. That’s why more insurance providers now require devices like automatic water shutoff systems.
It pays to be proactive. Prevent disaster and keep your coverage intact by trusting Caccia Home Services to install your system today.
How Automatic Water Shutoff Systems Protect Your Home and Coverage
Insurance companies know that a single burst pipe can cause irreparable damage in just a few minutes. Having an auto water shutoff valve shows them you take this risk seriously. In fact, some providers no longer sell or renew policies for homes that don’t have them.
But these systems also have other benefits. Here’s why many Bay Area homeowners choose to install them before they’re forced to:
- Stop major leaks before serious damage
- Maintain insurance coverage
- Possibly qualify for insurance discounts
- Monitor your home 24/7
- Automatically shut off water when leaks are detected
- Lower repair costs and mold risk
- Enjoy peace of mind when away from home
Which System Is Right for Your Home?
Caccia professionally installs two trusted options:
| Flo by Moen | Leak Defense System | |
| What It Does | Monitors water flow and pressure through the main line | Uses multiple moisture sensors near appliances and risk zones |
| How It Works | Automatically closes the main valve when usage appears abnormal | Shuts off water when any connected sensor detects moisture |
| Best For | Homeowners who want app alerts and remote control | Larger or older homes needing room-by-room protection |
Why Professional Installation Matters
An automatic water shutoff valve only works if:
- It’s compatible with your pipes
- It has access to power
- The installation is code-compliant and properly permitted
Our licensed plumbers and electricians ensure:
- Correct placement on your main line
- Clean, leak-free connections
- Wi-Fi and electrical setup (for Moen Flo systems)
- All required permits are pulled

9/15/2024I had a clogged sink and my usual plumber buddy who live up the street from me of course was in Tahoe for the weekend. I called 2 companies... Read More in Half Moon Bay both of which were booked out 2-3 weeks. Did some yelp searching and saw good review so lobbed in call. They picked up right away and within 2 hours a guy was here. Very good guy and said that he would recommend that while I have him do the snake also to replace most of the parts under my sink. I told him that I appreciated that but I have a friend who is a plumber, he said he would try to make it work. He found the clog, and got everything back together with no leaks
I will use these guys again for sureJeff L.

Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on your provider. But even if they don’t offer a discount for installing an automatic water shutoff system, keeping your current coverage is almost always more cost-effective than losing it and having to start over with a new company. Since many insurers require smart shutoff valves to maintain coverage, installing one now can help you avoid premium increases or policy cancellations in the future.
Choose Flo by Moen if you want one smart valve on your main water line that handles leak detection and shutoff automatically through the app.
Choose Leak Defense if your home has multiple potential leak spots and you’d rather place sensors around high-risk areas instead of relying on flow monitoring.
Not sure? Caccia installs both, so we’ll evaluate your setup and tell you which one makes the most sense.
Both systems allow you to manually reopen the valve or override the shutoff via app or control panel. False activations decrease over time as the system learns your usage.
Moen Flo requires 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi to send alerts and function properly. Leak Defense can operate without Wi-Fi if paired with wired sensors, but remote access features require internet.
Yes. Our licensed electricians can also install a dedicated grounded outlet to support your automatic water shutoff system if necessary. We’ll let you know if you need this during our initial consultation.
Most installations take just a few hours once the correct valve size is confirmed. Permitting (if required) may add time, but we handle that for you.
