NOVAworks Caccia Home Services - Octavio

Octavio’s Journey Through Caccia’s OJT Program

At Caccia Home Services, we believe that investing in our people is one of the best ways to build a stronger team and deliver great service to our customers. That’s why we’re proud to support hands-on learning and career development through our partnership with NOVAworks.

Recently, Octavio Lopez completed Caccia’s On-the-Job Training (OJT) program, gaining valuable experience in business operations and developing skills that will help him pursue a career in the skilled trades.

A Structured Approach to Learning

Caccia’s OJT program was designed to give Octavio a clear path to developing the skills needed to succeed in a home services environment. Over the course of approximately 15 weeks, he worked through five fundamental areas of training, learning everything from inventory management and fleet operations to purchase orders and tool maintenance.

Jordan, Caccia’s Business Operations Manager and Octavio’s primary trainer, helped guide him through the program.

“What OJT meant for Caccia was just like this awesome structure that we were able to follow that kind of gave us these great five fundamental things that Octavio really had to learn and progress through in a 15-week training program.”

The structured approach allowed Octavio to build his knowledge step by step, with hands-on experience and regular opportunities to put what he learned into practice.

Learning Through Hands-On Experience

As part of his training, Octavio took on a wide range of responsibilities that support Caccia’s technicians and day-to-day operations.

His work included:

  • Warehouse management: Organizing and maintaining inventory, ordering materials, and ensuring technicians have the supplies they need.
  • Fleet maintenance: Helping oversee more than 30 cars and trucks, coordinating oil changes, tire repairs, maintenance appointments, and other vehicle needs.
  • Tool maintenance and repairs: Repairing and maintaining equipment used by technicians, including drain-cleaning machines and their cables.
  • Purchasing and ordering: Placing orders for materials and supplies through ServiceTitan.
  • Operational support: Making sure technicians have the tools, materials, and vehicles they need to get the job done.

For Octavio, the experience has been about more than simply learning new tasks. It’s been an opportunity to build confidence, gain practical knowledge, and understand how the different parts of a home services company work together.

Building Confidence and Preparing for the Future

When Octavio first joined Caccia, he was relatively new to this type of work. Through the OJT program, he developed the skills and independence needed to manage daily responsibilities with greater confidence.

Regular check-ins with Jordan, Brian, and Daisy gave him the opportunity to review his progress, identify areas for improvement, and stay on track throughout his training.

Reflecting on his experience, Octavio shared:

“Looking back to when I first started working here, I’ve noticed a lot of growth within myself. I learned a lot of fittings, a lot of material, sizing, what material is used for what purpose.”

The program also helped Octavio explore his long-term career interests. He originally had an interest in electrical work, but his time at Caccia introduced him to plumbing and encouraged him to consider a future in the trade.

“The on-the-job training program helped me get closer to my goals by offering me a chance to learn a new trade.”

For Octavio, the experience has been an important step toward building new skills and eventually pursuing his goal of working in the field.

Creating Opportunities Within Our Community

For Caccia, the OJT program is about more than training one employee. It’s an opportunity to help develop local talent while strengthening the team that supports our customers every day.

As a home services company with technicians, vehicles, tools, and customer appointments to coordinate, strong operational support is essential. Having someone who understands these responsibilities helps ensure our technicians are prepared and able to provide the service our customers depend on.

Jordan also highlighted the value of working with NOVAworks to make this kind of opportunity possible for a small business like Caccia.

“It allows even us, a small business, to kind of bring on talent like that.”

Since 1979, Caccia Home Services has been committed to serving our community. Programs like this help us continue that commitment by creating opportunities for people who want to learn, grow, and build a future in the trades.

Octavio’s journey is a great example of what can happen when hands-on training, mentorship, and a willingness to learn come together.

We’re proud of the progress he’s made and excited to see where his new skills take him. As Caccia continues to grow, we’re grateful for opportunities to invest in our team, support local talent, and help build the next generation of skilled professionals.
